Back Cover and Casting

After applying some minor tweaks to our inside cover,we moved on to the creationn of our back cover.
We incorporated information that is required through industry standars such as a bar-code and iTunes logo. Due to the artist being anm independe#ant artist, there was no need to add a recording label. This being said, the cover is still a work in progres with plans for a background image.

We also used this time to try and find an actress to be used in our video based on students with frees during this time, and chose to use our team-mate Dom to perform the main role.
Filming begins tomorrow - fingers crossed :)

Creating the CD

Today we were tasked with beginning to create our CD cover, taking into consideration the design of Passenger's initial album covers. It occured to us that both of the covers shown below incorporate stars into their design and so we carried this theme over into our own cover work and combined it with an image taken during our search for locations.

The cover art used for the single

We used photoshop to alter our original image by changing the colour levels and colour balance before merging the image with another that contains stars. This was done by segregating the area of sky and replacing it with part of the second image.

Here is the original image that was
taken during our location search

We then added the artist name and single title to the image which would appear on the cover before adding in further genre conventions such as lyrics to appear on the insert. The final product can be seen below.

First draft product for CD Cover

Our cover has been designed to adhere to theconventionsof an indie track by using calmingcolours with no central image of the artist. There is also an abundanceof empty background space which draws the focus to the emptry field and the bright starry sky. The image is slightly abstract in order to flatter the audience.

Waiting for the Sunshine

With our storyboards complete, all we had to do was wait for the right kind of weather... a feat which, in England, may take a while.

Setting the Scene

And then it was time to scout locations. Off we went searching the furthest corners of the school grounds for an area that captivated the seclusion required to give the video the feeling of solitude that we wanted without the view of metal gates and big buildings in the background...

Advert

With the expansion of our trio to a quartet with the addition of http://domsmedia1.blogspot.co.uk, we each embarked on practising creating a magazine advert for our chosen song, with the aim to incorporate the industry standard conventions such as;
Band Name
Single Name
Website Link
iTunes Availability
QR Code
and even a review.
The result of this is shown below and was designed with the function of being minimalist to coincide with the relaxing nature of the song
